POOL BUYING & PLANNING GUIDE

Getting Started

Have you been considering putting a swimming pool in your backyard and are ready to take the plunge? Fantastic! Building a pool is an exciting and significant investment for your property. Our Pool Buying Guide will take you through the necessary things to consider when planning the design and construction of your new pool.

Here are some important factors to consider when planning and building a pool:

Permits and Regulations With some cities and/or HOA’s, it may not be possible to put in a swimming pool. You will want to find that out before moving forward. Building a pool may require permits and compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and zoning restrictions. Make sure to obtain the necessary permits and comply with all regulations to avoid potential legal and safety issues. A reputable pool builder can help you with the permitting process. Property Accessibility Once you have found out that you are allowed to put in a new pool, you will want to know if there is unobstructed access to your backyard or other factors that would make adding an inground pool unlikely. For the excavation stage a “bobcat” excavator is used. This piece of equipment requires 6 feet of clearance between your property line and your home. Anything less than that makes it very doubtul that you will be able to put anything other than an above ground pool in your yard. Also necesarry is information that illustrates any natural gas lines, water service pipes, setpic systemes. etc. A copy of your property survey should be sufficeint for one of our designers to determine if it is possible Budget Determine your budget for building a pool, including all costs associated with construction, permits, landscaping, and ongoing maintenance. It’s essential to have a clear understanding of your budget and stick to it throughout the design and construction process. We build Gunite/Concrete pools that start at approximately $60,000. If this is above your budget you have a couple of options. The first one is to consider full or partial financing. Pool loans can be for obtained with affordable rates and terms up to 20 years. The second option would be the type of pool and is dicussed below. Type of Pool There are various types of pools, including concrete (gunite or shotcrete), vinyl liner, and fiberglass. Each type has its pros and cons in terms of durability, cost, and maintenance, so choose the one that aligns with your preferences and budget. Gunite pools are more durable and flexible in design options. Vinyl liner and fiberglass may be cheaper but also don’t tend to last as long or provide a variety of design options.
